چکیده
It is shown how neural spike train responses can be predicted by truncated Wiener series and by LN-cascade models. To prove the capability of these methods we test them on spike trains which have been generated by model neurons. The agreement of the approximated responses and the neuron response to known stimuli is analysed quantitatively by calculating least mean square errors and rates of coincidences. Abstract. Parameter estimation of neuron models using in-vitro and in-vivo electrophysiological data
Spiking neuron models can accurately predict the response of neurons to somatically injected currents if the model parameters are carefully tuned. Predicting the response of in-vivo neurons responding to natural stimuli presents a far more challenging modeling problem. In this study, an algorithm is presented for parameter estimation of spiking neuron models. The algorithm is a hybrid evolution...
متن کاملIntegrate-and-Fire models with adaptation are good enough: predicting spike times under random current injection
Integrate-and-Fire-type models are usually criticized because of their simplicity. On the other hand, the Integrate-and-Fire model is the basis of most of the theoretical studies on spiking neuron models. Here, we develop a sequential procedure to quantitatively evaluate an equivalent Integrate-and-Fire-type model based on intracellular recordings of cortical pyramidal neurons. We find that the...
متن کاملResponses of a Hodgkin-Huxley neuron to various types of spike-train inputs.
Numerical investigations have been made of responses of a Hodgkin-Huxley (HH) neuron to spike-train inputs whose interspike interval (ISI) is modulated by deterministic, semi-deterministic (chaotic), and stochastic signals. As deterministic one, we adopt inputs with the time-independent ISI and with time-dependent ISI modulated by sinusoidal signal. The Rössler and Lorentz models are adopted fo...
متن کاملPoisson or Not Poisson: Differences in Spike Train Statistics between Parietal Cortical Areas
The variability of neuronal responses is proportional to the mean in many brain areas, which suggests that neural responses might follow a Poisson distribution. In this issue of Neuron, Maimon and Assad document a surprising violation of Poisson firing. Specifically, they show that there are differences in the amount of periodic structure in spike trains across cortical areas, with multimodal s...
